School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of São Paulo (FMVZ/USP) is one of the most important centers of teaching and research in Latin America and currently the 36ª best veterinary school in the world, according to QS World University Rankings 2015.
The course of Veterinary Medicine was created in 1919 and incorporated to the USP in 1934. FMVZ is one of its founding institutions and currently it is an advanced center for research, education and outreach, offering a Veterinary Medicine course and seven graduate courses to about 1,000 students, distributed in two Campuses located in the cities of São Paulo and Pirassununga.
On the São Paulo's Campus there are many facilities and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Hovet), the largest one in Latin America, with over than 50,000 attendances per year.
On the Pirassununga's Campus there are laboratories and teaching/research facilities, equipped for animal husbandry, animal reproduction and feed technology studies.
Also, FMVZ's library has over 135,000 books and journals from several countries, besides a Virtual Labrary of Veterinary Medicine (BVS-Vet), and the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy (MAV) presents in its exhibition more than 1000 pieces prepared, studied and collected by faculty members and students. Besides its role as an important teaching and research public institution, FMVZ has also an annual large number of scientific productions in renowned national and international publications.
Among six departments, seven graduate programs, research centers and a veterinary residency program, FMVZ receives many foreigner students, researchers and professors from important international universities and institutions every year, mainly because it is recognized both nationally and internationally for its research activities and campus facilities.
For it, International Affairs Committee (CCInt-FMVZ) offers support for all FMVZ's community in order to better promote our school and also better receipt our visitors.
